You are to be congratulated on the design and meticulous work you have effected both on the fence and on the new patio for George and Tilda Bradley.  In a word – elegant.

I am just delighted (and to be honest at the same time) a bit sad.
It looks as though yesterday you have completed all remaining tasks on the Phase 2 list – and done some general tidying – my goodness what a difference. You set out to create a welcoming, relaxing outdoor space and it truly does make my heart sing. Thank you to you for your vision – it was quickly clear that you just ‘got me’ and understood exactly what I was looking for. And thank you to you both for going above and beyond to help me out. I cannot thank you enough. I feel like it is a massive weight off my mind and I now have the enthusiasm and stimulation to forge ahead with the completion of the front garden and indeed the house.
All the best and good luck with your next projects.

I just wanted to let you know you are fantastic at your job and you managed to translate my requirements into the perfect garden for me. Thanks for taking the time to get every detail right.

Robert and his team replaced the natural grass in our front, rear and side gardens and did an immaculate job.  The process involved several layers of replacement hardcore, sand, membrane, etc. and each layer was finished to the highest standard.  The site was always left cleared and tidy and in good order every night before they left. They went above and beyond what we expected by installing wooden edging around the rear garden where it had not been before.
We would be willing for anyone to inspect their work by arrangement.
We cannot emphasize how highly we recommend Robert and his team’s work – it was worth every penny.

We met with Robert and discussed our requirements and asked for his suggestions. Robert carried out a site survey, took photographs and produced a specification and design drawings including computer-generated pictures of the proposed finished project. He provided drawings and quotations for three different methods of surfacing the drive so we could make a decision as to which we would go ahead with. As we have a large Motor Home and the ground in question is solid clay consideration had to be taken for parking the vehicle and also drainage. Robert covered all these matters fully to our satisfaction. He also made various recommendations for plants suitable to provide ground cover under trees eventually, All changes we asked for were taken on board in a very business-like and friendly manner. (…)
I am delighted with the outcome and was most impressed by Robert’s designing talent. He listened to what was wanted and provided a plan totally reflecting this. He has also a remarkable knowledge of plants and building finishes ensuring that his designs are both practical and aesthetically pleasing. He also considers the long term when planning to take into account reducing maintenance and using materials which will give service and look good for years to come.

We have enjoyed having you work on the garden over the years, it’s so nice when you get someone who knows exactly what you want.

The works involved the excavation of a large steeply sloping area of the garden, to the rear of the property, with access restricted to a narrow path running down the side of the house. The gradient of the garden meant that a retaining wall was required of approx. 10ft with 28 steps (a left angle bend at 15 steps) to an upper children’s play area and the construction of a patio in the excavated area at house level. Also included was the leveling of the front garden and the laying of a lawn.
Because of the height of the retaining wall, planning permission from Perth & Kinross Council was required which was achieved by Robert.
The design work was carried out by Robert Furmanek following discussions of our requirements. Several options were presented by Robert. All included drawings and computer illustrations which were really useful in giving an impression of what the final result would look like. Eventually, we decided on one of the options but this had to be amended somewhat for budgetary reasons. A final design was agreed and Robert prepared formal drawings for submission to the Council. The plans were approved and what turned out to be a five-month project commenced.
Robert then acted as Project Manager. There were several issues which were encountered during the project. The Scottish winter did not help and the excavation was more difficult than anticipated as two large granite boulders were uncovered whilst excavating. These could only be partially removed requiring the support wall be moved forward by two feet or so to avoid the remaining granite boulders. Despite the weather, the project was well managed and kept reasonably to time.
There were many factors Robert took into consideration during the planning. With three very young children, the garden had to be ‘child-friendly’ – down to the height and depth of each of the steps and the railings required to run down the steep slope. Robert understood all the time of our concerns in this area.
We are delighted with the end result. It has created a safe area for our three young daughters to play in plus giving a very adult friendly area to sit in.
Robert is an excellent communicator and kept us informed of progress throughout. He also discussed any difficulties encountered and suggested ways and means to overcome these without compromising the intended outcome or breaking the budget. He is a very talented designer and architect and a good listener.
We have no hesitation at all in saying we would highly recommend him to anyone wanting garden work carried out.
